Wes Moore Sonnets
Author Wes:
A boy thou were't, and young to know of death
And waited thee a time that erred to long
To see his father’s fall pale, with held breath
Both died, thy voice and strife, behind thy father's tongue.
The rules thou learn't of weapons and stubstances strange
Of strength and power thou were't taught by battle
And so from wary stranger thou did'st change
To excelling personage of Bronxonian cattle.
Two avenues of life from which thy errant nature must choose
Alter thy home of knowledge, or set free thy source of casual entertainment
While desires companion reveal to thee thy executioner's noose
Of diff’rent gentle fate of thine own attainment.
A son of chance thou were't born of fate,
and now joyous child of free will do'st thy gentle pondering o' fate lead thee to await.
Other Wes:
Once were thee, a Wes of familiar name, an innocent youth,
Changed by thy brother to malous depravity
The path that thy brother, Tony, did'st choose was flawed,
Guiding to rough-shod bouts with fist, 'tis a truth.
Aid thou received did'st receive from thy brother at the point.
Toughen thy resolve and it was to try.
Why thy brother wouldst one could comprehend,
Given troubles in thy neighborhood causing mortal enmity.
Dealt drugs did Tony do,
School did'st thou forego.
Was Wes to listen to thee a phony,
Stooped hither a level Tony that was low.
Thee, but a poor son of ill conceived free-will,
Take up thy quill, ye subscriber of misused will.
